More images.............................................................. of the Tatton Park Red Deer

A few more deer images I captured the other day... weather permitting I will be there back tomorrow.

This big fella was running up and down chasing off young stags.

He was protecting his small harem.

It should be fun to watch when some of the other big stags get involved.

Lovely animals to watch... from a distance.

Or close up if you bump into one in the woodlands.

Tatton Park is also home to a herd of Fallow Deer.

A bit shyer than the Reds... this one strutted slowly up to me before deciding to rush past.

Cute Coot.............................................................................. Tatton Park Cheshire

It wasn't just the deer I went to see at Tatton Park yesterday... I always take in the two large lakes.

This little Coot was one of many enjoying the Autumn sunshine on Melchett Mere.

Ludlow............................................................. what a beautiful old English town

We've just had a wonderful few days away visiting the medieval town of Ludlow.
Ludlow is only 75 miles from home so not too long a drive.

Our Hotel... The Cliffe at Dinham
Its sells itself as a restaurant with rooms.. the food was delicious.

A short stroll from the hotel is a bridge over the River Teme and this wonderful view of the castle.
Ludlow Castle was built by the Normans between 1066 and 1085.

Ludlow Market Square just a few yards from the castle entrance.
Ludlow market has been in place in front of the castle for over 900 years.
There are many Tudor and Georgian buildings in the town... I hope to share more images soon.

My baby garden Robin is starting to look like........................................ a Robin!

I have been so lucky to have two juvenile Robins in the garden this year.

The red breast feathers are now appearing and they are starting to look like Robins.
Scroll down my posts to see them as youngsters... my header shows an adult.

Enjoying the morning sunshine................. the juvenile Blackbird in my garden

I had a doctors appointment this morning so instead of setting off on my early commute to work I had the chance to spend a bit of time in the garden... and the sun was shining.

The juvenile Blackbird in my garden looks like it doesn't want to leave.

I can get really close to it  (see my last post).

Still letting Dad know he wants help finding food... I've only seen the male attending it.
I'm home now after a long day... and it's raining!

The juvenile Blackbird in my garden.................................................. sunbathing

The juvenile Blackbird in my garden has been enjoying the sunshine.

I've often seen adult Blackbirds doing it (and Robins) but never a youngster.
Wonderful behaviour.

The juvenile Blackbird in my garden is doing well................................................

The juvenile Blackbird in my garden is doing really well.

It has been feeding it'self... trying out all my flowers... it takes time.
I've only seen the male with it over the last few days... maybe the female is sitting on more eggs?
I have a couple of young Robins as well... still trying to capture images.

Arley Hall................................................................................................... Cheshire

A few images from my visit to the gardens at Arley Hall yesterday.

Arley Hall

The gardens have been created over the last 250 years.

The herbaceous borders are thought to be the first planted in England.

They haven't reached their peak yet... the colours will be stunning in a few weeks.

A few more images for you to admire...

The lawn paths are wonderful to follow...

...and take you on a lovely journey.

I wish this was my lawn... I would need a ride on mower though.

It was a lovely sunny day... and I really enjoyed my visit.
I hope to see the gardens again in a few weeks... they are only four miles from home.

My garden planted up for this year............ veg as well as flowers for a change

Ready to watch it bloom... spuds and greens in the raised beds.

Roses and geraniums in the planters... the urns are planted up as hanging baskets.
A blaze of colour in a few weeks?

Sunday, 22 May 2016

I've bought a couple of plinths for my garden urns...... been a while searching

I bought a couple of urns as planters for my garden last year....
... planted as hanging baskets they weren't high enough for the plants I used.

The plinths give them a bit more height... and look really good.

Veg seeds in....................................................... bedding and toms this weekend

Another garden makeover.

I have moved the birdbath onto what used to be my small lawn...
... and bought some raised veritable beds... where I used to grow flowers.
Onions lettuce cauliflower carrots radishes and spuds on the way... well lets see.

My white squirrel pic has made the National Press again....................................

Published in the National Press again...it's my white squirrel pic.

All-white creatures – many of which are albinos – are often considered lucky in some cultures. Sadly for the animals themselves, the opposite is true.

Nice timing........... a Goldcrest in the garden during my Big Garden Birdwatch

This weekend it's been the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch...
...they claim it's the worlds largest wildlife survey.
You spend one hour noting the number of birds and different species that visit your garden.
During my hour earlier to day I had 10 species visit my feeders.. the last one was a bit special.

Goldcrest (Regulus regulus)

The smallest British bird weighing around 6.5gm.

All the images were taken through my kitchen window... and it was raining.

It's only the second one I've seen in the garden in over 10 years

A great little bird to end my bird count with.
